Protection & Community Cohesion

Advancing Equality and Empowerment

Promoting safety, inclusion, peaceful coexistence, and psychosocial well-being within refugee and host communities.

Strengthening Protection and Peaceful Coexistence

Protection and social cohesion are essential for stable and resilient communities. Our Protection & Community Cohesion Program focuses on safeguarding vulnerable individuals, promoting human rights, and strengthening peaceful relationships among diverse community members.

Refugee and host communities often face challenges related to conflict, discrimination, psychosocial stress, and exclusion of vulnerable groups. Alight of Africa works to address these challenges through protection-focused interventions, peacebuilding initiatives, and inclusive community engagement.

Program Areas

We facilitate dialogue, mediation, and community engagement activities that promote peaceful coexistence and resolve conflicts constructively.

We provide psychosocial support to individuals and groups affected by trauma, stress, and displacement, promoting mental well-being and resilience.

We promote the inclusion and protection of persons with disabilities by supporting access to services, participation, and community acceptance.

We conduct community sensitization on human rights, child protection, and protection from exploitation, abuse, and discrimination.

We organize awareness sessions, cultural exchanges, and community events that strengthen unity, understanding, and mutual respect among diverse groups.

We provide targeted protection support to vulnerable individuals including children, women, the elderly, survivors of violence, and people with disabilities.
