BACKGROUND
Alight of Africa is a refugee led, non-profit, non-political ,non-Religious community based organization Founded in nakivale Refugee Settlement, isingiro District, Uganda on 15.Nov.2024.The organization was established by a group of committed refugee community members, The founder and Co-founders who Identified the need for an inclusive and community drive institution capable of addressing the Social,economic,Education ,Cultural, and Protection challenges Faced by Refugees and Surrounding Host communities.
The founders Observed Significant Service Gaps affecting vulnerable Groups Such as: Youth, Women, Men, Children, People with Disabilities, the elderly, and survivors of Violence.
Alight of Africa Promotes Education, Livelihoods, Talents Development,Peacebuilding,Women’s Empowerment, Disability inclusion, and Community Resilience, it’s Committed to Strengthening Solidarity, Promoting Peaceful Coexistence Among Diverse Nationalities, and Working Towards a Community Where Every Individual Regardless of Background Can Access Opportunities,Dygnity,and Hope For Better Future.
Objectives
- Strengthen the Socio-economic, well-being of Refugees and Host communities.
- Support Vulnerable People Including Women, Men, youth, Elderly People, Orphans, and People with Disabilities.
- Promote Education, Talent Development, Vocational Skills, and Innovation.
- Advocate for Human Rights, Protection, Peace building, and Community Cohesion.
- Facilitate Cultural Exchange, Sports, Arts, and Community Activities.
- Collaborate With Humanitarian Agencies, Government Institutions, and Development Partners.
- Promote Environmental Protection, WASH, Health Awareness, and Community Safety.
- Enhance Leadership Skills and Empower Community Groups to Achieve Self-Reliance.
